January and beyond
Well Christmas is now a distant memory and we are once again in the throws of a national lockdown due to the global pandemic.
However, the show must go on.
Through January we have been busy battling both the lockdown and the dreaded East Lancashire winter. While things on our sites have changed to help protect our workforce from the Covid-19 virus with social distancing, hand wash stations and an array of different but eye catching facemasks, the January winter has hit with a bang! With temperatures dropping to -5 overnight on some days we have been unable to lay any bricks or stone but we have however been able to push on with internal works at two of our sites.
Gaits House at Blackho in Nelson has been ongoing now since mid October and with a complete re-roof to the main roof, thermowood fascias with Hardypanel soffits and galvanised aluminium gutters done we can now take down the bulk of the scaffold and move to the lower levels on the externals. We have also thoroughly cleaned the front of the building to spruce up the existing K-Rend which makes the building look clean and crisp in the winter sunshine. Our team of joiners are now working on the internals in the garage that is to be a music room with a study on the first floor above. Later in February we have the new klargester sewerage tank to be installed and the existing septic tank is to be converted into a pumping station. Fingers crossed that the frost and snow will abate soon and we can start to get on with the garden and landscaping works. We still have a large amount of stone walling to construct around the gardens with stone paving to lay and new driveway along with landscaping works around an existing pond.
When complete I’m sure you’ll agree this project will look stunning.
Over The Hill
Another job we started in December came to an end this January.
Over the hill in Silsden we were asked to convert another garage, this time into a completely sound proof music studio.
The lads battled through the snow to travel over the border to West Yorkshire to get this one over the line. Using specialist soundproof boards and rubber matting the garage was studded out and then plastered. The front garage door disappeared and in its place we installed a hardwood timber door for access.
The client on this one (A music teacher) was absolutely made up with the work and finish and he can’t wait to start using the room to make some serious noise.
Return to the Ribble Valley
Also slotted in this month was the installation of these bespoke French doors.
Some of you may remember the beautiful timber porch we constructed up in the Ribble Valley last year, well the homeowners were so happy with the work we carried out that they asked us back to carry out more.
We removed the old rotten timber French doors and replaced within the day with minimum fuss and damage to the surrounding reveals.
Made from Accoya and painted in a durable exterior paint with a high security six point locking system we think these look lovely and will last for years to come.
